The QBOT MINImill control unit supports tool length sensors which issue a signal on contact. Our tool length sensor is normally open – and closed on contact.
For PCB milling we recommend our PCB holder. Should you use your own fixture or only a PCB we recommend connecting the PCB and the milling spindle to the tool length sensor contacts. You can take a look on the wiring on our PCB holder tutorial.
Our MINImill tool length sensor is supplied with a cable and can be directly plugged into your electronics board.
You can directly connect our MINImill tool length sensor to your control board. In the older control board version you have to plug it onto the correct position of your pin stip.
You can use the tool length sensor after connecting. We recommend testing it manually without an end mill first.
To start a tool length measurement send e.g.:
G38.2 Z-65 F100
The milling machine moves in Z to Z-65 until the tool length sensor is touched by the end mill. Afterwards you can set the height with a G92 command e.g: G92 Z0. This sets your Z coordinate at the measurement point to 0. G1 Z5 F100 would lift your end mill by 5mm after the G92 command.

Sie können natürlich auch einen eigenen Werkzeuglängensensor an unsere Steuerungselektronik anschließen. Der Schaltkontakt des Werkzeuglängensensor muss bei der Messung ein Schaltsignal ausgeben. Unsere Elektronik erwartet vor der Messung einen offenen Schaltkontakt und sobald das Werkzeug am Längentaster antastet ein Schaltsignal – dh. ein Schließen des Schalters.
Wir haben in unserem Werkzeuglängensensor die nötigen Schutzfunktionen bereits verbaut. Sollten Sie einen Eigenbau Werkzeuglängensenor verwenden, so empfehlen wir Ihnen einen Schutzwiderstand, wie weiter unten dargestellt, einzubauen.
